Technicalities of C20 Concrete Mix Ratio

The C20 concrete (Gen 3) is a standard-strength concrete grade its minimum compressive strength after 28 days of curing. The compressive strength of the C20 concrete mix is 20MPa (N/mm2) in 28 days. The ratio is as follows:

  • 1 Part Cement
  • 2 Parts Sand (Fine Aggregate)
  • 4 Parts Gravel (Coarse Aggregate)

When we use premixed ballast, the concrete mix ratio of 6 parts is used for 1 part of the cement. The ideal water-to-cement ratio is 55% if all other materials are completely dry. However, in reality, the materials are often damp, especially the sand. In such cases, you may need to adjust the amount of water added.

Benefits of Ready Mix

Frequently Asked Questions

The C20/Gen 3 concrete mix requires 28 days for full curing. After one week, the concrete will have approximately 70% strength. It takes 24 to 48 hours for concrete to set.

Concrete mix design considers several important factors, including strength, durability, workability, the desired appearance of the concrete, and the specific raw materials.

The C20 concrete mix has a strength of 20 Newton per square millimetre in 28 days, making it suitable for lightweight structures like workshop bases, garages, domestic flooring, and foundations. The C25 concrete mix is stronger and is used for heavier structures or larger buildings.

To calculate the amount of concrete you need, it’s recommended to use the standard C20 concrete mix ratio, 1:2:4 (one part cement, two parts fine aggregate, and four parts coarse aggregate). This ratio provides the fundamental mixture for C20 concrete.
